Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits: Want Ads (1971)

Here's a Soul Train classic from the Honey Cone, with their one-hit wonder (as far as the Hot 100 was concerned), "Want Ads".

Always loved this song but this is the first time I've been able to see the singers responsible for it!

At first listen, it sounded like the Jackson 5 during that period.

Imagine if Josie & The Pussycats could have recording this one!

One person on YouTube shares your take on Honey Cone being a distaff Jackson 5 clone. I can understand.

As for Josie? I'd say Honey Cone is an urban, adult, more mature sound. Not for the bubblegum set. If they could reboot Josie with adult sensibilities, then we could talk about covering "Want Ads".....
