Animated World of DC Comics: The Chimp Who Made it Big (1966)

From The New Adventures of Superman comes an adaptation of the origin story of Titano, the Super-Ape, though that name isn't used in "The Chimp Who Made it Big". Instead, it's an ordinary monkey named Bobo, who is exposed to cosmic radiation while in space, leading to his sudden growth spurt. The writers also felt obligated to do a call-back to the original "King Kong", whose television counterpart was also in his first season, over on ABC.

At least this had a happier ending.

Rating: A.

They brought back Titano in STAS. He was dumped on his own island, but at least he got a happy ending of sorts.

If you saw, "Young Justice", "Titano" was the name given to an Elephant on a circus poster at the Haley Circus.

Titano, as I've noted in the past, was included in the open to the 1988 Superman series, but was not otherwise used.

The YJ writers apparently didn't do their homework now, did they?

Titano WAS in the 90s Superman animated series. The episode was called, "Monkey Fun" .

I'll see if I can find that particular episode, considering 90's DC toons are very hard to find on YouTube intact.

Meanwhile, we'll consign the foolishness of 1988 to the oversight committee on incompetence......
