Singer-songwriter David Loggins, a cousin of Kenny Loggins, scored his only Top 40 hit in 1974 with "Please Come to Boston", an earnest ballad of heartache that landed him on The Midnight Special:
Loggins, who passed away overnight at 76, also leaves behind a collection of hits he wrote for other artists, including a duet he recorded with Anne Murray on the country chart in the early 80's, and the instrumental theme to CBS' coverage of The Masters golf tournament, "Augusta".
