It Should've Been on a Saturday: The Adventures of Kit Carson (1951)

 Talk about your loose adaptations!!

The Adventures of Kit Carson, which ran for four seasons (1951-5) aired in the early evening on Tuesdays during this period. One could imagine that it could've also landed a Saturday morning berth, too, had anyone thought of it.

The fictionalized adventures of Carson (Bill Williams) and his sidekick, El Toro (Don Diamond, later of F-Troop), kept the kiddo's tuned in over those four years, but those same kids would learn later on that the real Carson wasn't a lawman after all.

Let's check a sample episode.

Bill Williams moved on after the series ended to the sitcom, A Date With The Angels, opposite Betty White. He'd also work with his actress-wife, Barbara Hale, in guest appearances on Perry Mason during that series' run. Finally, Williams and his son, future star William Katt, appeared together on Ironside.

As noted, Don Diamond played Crazy Cat on F-Troop (1965-7), and dabbled in cartoons, starring in DePatie-Freleng's Tijuana (Texas) Toads in the 70's.

No rating. Just a public service.
