Saturday School: Dr. Henry's Emergency Lessons For People (HELP) (1979)

From the creators of Schoolhouse Rock comes another series of PSA's produced for ABC.

Dr. Henry's Emergency Lessons For People, or HELP!, was slotted in liberally, alternating with the various Schoolhouse components and Time For Timer. Unfortunately, during the 80's, these micro-shorts were phased out for whatever reason, but in this day and age, with a greater emphasis on educating young viewers, it might be a good time for the good doctor to make a return.

I remember watching these shorts and they were a great way to teach first aid to younger kids.

Like Schoolhouse Rock, many of the tips given have remained in my brain all these years later!

If you blinked, you missed it, since they were only a minute or so in length. Don't know who'd have the rights to it now (maybe Disney, maybe someone else), but maybe they could retool it and have an actor play Dr. Henry?

Is that Michael Palin doing the voiceover intro? Sure sounds like him.

I would like to confirm that, but Dr. Henry doesn't have a Wikipedia page I can reference.

Anyone out there got the answer?

One thing of some interest in this PSA (and another on treating cuts), is that "Medical Authority" involved on these is a Henry J. Heimlich, M.D. He is best known as the inventor of "The Heimlich Maneuver".

Here's the other PSA.

Wow. Haven't "heard" from you in a looooooooooooong time, Chris, not since we were both posting on newsgroups (and I still do). Thanks. Mind blown.
