Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits: Chance to Get Away (1977)

From the short-lived Wacko:

The Dwight Twilley Band performs "Chance to Get Away". If that long haired bassist looks familiar, he should. It's Tom Petty, before he formed his own band, the Heartbreakers!

I saw a couple of episodes of CBS' Wacko, but remember very little of it. Mainly the "We'll be right back!" bits featuring a cartoon kangaroo. It was another attempt by CBS to have a SatAM live action sketch comedy show after The Hudson Brothers Razzle Dazzle Show. This one lasted about as long Razzle Dazzle did, as I recall. I never knew that Wacko had musical guests, so I learned something today.

It lasted exactly the same as the Hudsons' show. One season. Chris Bearde was the producer for Wacko, and brought Charles Fleischer over from Welcome Back, Kotter as co-host. Julie McWhirter and Bo Kaprall were the other hosts, and of the three, it seems Julie's been the most successful. Being married to Rick Dees has something to do with that......
