Looney TV: Dynamite Dance (2019)

Warner Bros. has unleashed a new batch of Looney Tunes shorts during the Annecy festival.

"Dynamite Dance" is a compact summation, if ya will, of Bugs Bunny's classic feud with Elmer Fudd. However, is 92 seconds really enough?

In comparison to recent revivals of Popeye & Woody Woodpecker. this falls closer to Woody's side, even if there is no dialogue this time.

Rating: A.

Some of these shorts will include dialogue, featuring veteran voice actors such as Jeff Bergman, Eric Bauza and Bob Bergen.

The artists seem to be going for a Bob Clampett inspired visual aesthetic, which is fine by me, as well as utilizing a full orchestra.

One element about these shorts that I'm personally really digging is that, like on New Looney Tunes (underrated show, IMO) is that WB is going back to the screw-loose version of Daffy Duck, instead of the selfish, jealous egotist that we've been getting for far too long. I do wonder, though, if we'll be seeing post 1940's era characters like Road Runner, Wile E. Coyote, Taz and Lola in these cartoons, given how closely the team are sticking to the '40's aesthetic.

The creator of Uncle Grandpa and Secret Mountain Fort Awesome himself is the executive producer.

I think we'll see the whole gang, really. Fans in certain demographic groups will riot if their favorites don't appear.

That would be Peter Browngardt. Uncle Grandpa was an underrated show, IMNSHO.

With Pete on board, you know the shorts are bound to be hilarious.

I for one actually enjoyed Uncle Grandpa. Funny you should say it was underrated. It had to be good enough in the CN bosses' eyes to go beyond two seasons. Why TTG and Gumball still get all the attention (as well as Adventure Time even though it already ended perfectly) I'll never understand.

@MisterSig: CN is run more so by beancounting morons than actual programmers. Uncle Grandpa was surrealistic silliness. A sentient slice of pizza that could drive a car? Like, really? (Yep.)
