To complement TNT's coverage of the NBA All-Star Game in 2003, sister network Cartoon Network decided on something a little noble and bizarre at the same time.
NBA All-Star Slam was an afternoon full of NBA players finding their inner children, but subjected to some seriously warped comedy, likely from the same peabrains in charge of [adult swim].
The ratings were such that they did this again the next year, but the promotion was discontinued after that.
Anyway, the pairings included:
Shaquille O'Neal (now a TNT analyst) w/Godzilla.
Jason Kidd, then with the Nets, paired with Jayna, 1/2 of the Wonder Twins. Sounds like either Grey DeLisle, Tress MacNeille, or BJ Ward tried impersonating Jayna's original portrayer, Louise Williams, who was unavailable at the time, as Louise would admit herself in an interview 8 years later. Poor Jason gets to be Zan for a few hours, but these segments were pre-recorded such that everything was back to normal by game time.
For what it was worth, Ward was in town for a matinee concert a week earlier on her "Stand-Up Opera" tour, which I missed.

As Jayna would say, real spacey. No, I didn't come back for the 2nd edition.

This event aired on CN in 2003, 2004, and 2006. For some reason, they skipped 2005.
Didn't see it in '06, either.
Zan does not turn into a bucket! It's amazing how many folks get that wrong. Zan's power was transforming into water in any form from ice to clouds. Granted, it would probably play better if he were a hydro/cryokinetic rather than transforming into liquids, but I really get tired of Zan getting the chump treatment by popular media. DC/Warner Bros. has been making Aquaman seem cooler in recent projects, I'd like to see them do the same for Zan.
ON a higher note, seeing Jayna again was cool. Pity they couldn't get Liberty Willimans to provide her voice this time again.
In other words, you wish Zan's powers were similar to Fluid Man of the Impossibles, right?
Have you been reading the Wonder Twins miniseries from DC?
1. Yeah, basically, with some touches of Aisha from Winx Club and the Aqualads (Garth/Tempest and Kaldur) from DC.
2. Haven't gotten around to it. I may have to check those out.
Come to think of it, they used the same actress (could've been any of the ones I mentioned) for the editorial they did in '99.
Anyway, your idea for Zan has a lot of merit.
