Toon Rock: Trap of Love (2010)

During season 1 of Scooby-Doo: Mystery Incorporated, Daphne Blake (Grey DeLisle) joined up with the rock group, The Hex Girls, for a gig. This was really an excuse for Ms. DeLisle, who is a singer-songwriter in her spare time, to show off her other talent. Here, Daphne performs "Trap of Love", a not-so-subtle message to boyfriend Fred (Frank Welker):

Yes, it does fall under "Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits" because Cartoon Network aired SDMI on Saturdays for a while during season 1.

I really liked this song. If a soundtrack to SDMI had been released, or even if this song had been released as a single, I think it could have charted. The tweens certainly would have gone for it and it was better than a lot of other songs on the radio lately.

Plus - it was a great episode - seeing Daphne decked out as a rocker, and actually rebelling against her feelings for a clueless Fred. It helped that Grey Delisle is as good a singer as she is a VA.

Making it a single would've raised Grey's profile for sure, but the clueless suits in charge never gave it a thought.

Of course, when you consider they cast one of the Go-Go's (Jane Weidlin) as one of the Hex Girls in Scooby & the Witch's Ghost, a soundtrack should've been in the offing......
