In answer to WB's Private Snafu series, produced for the Army, independent producer Hugh Harman, who'd previously been with WB & MGM, was hired to create Commandments For Health, which used a mix of full & limited animation.
As the title implies, the series was about promoting good health habits for our military. The lead character in the shorts was a Private McGillicuddy (Mel Blanc, of course), who learns the hard way about his health.
As an example, we present "Native Food", from 1945:
I could imagine these shorts being used in schools back then, too.
