Coming Attractions: A show about talking Batmobiles?!?

It was the late Tex Avery that first postulated the idea of sentient vehicles in a couple of shorts for MGM back in the day.

It wasn't so long ago that Disney & Pixar came up with the "Cars" trilogy of movies, which, surprisingly, hasn't led to a weekly series.

So now, someone has sold an idea to Warner Bros. Animation that would consider the prospect of the Batmobile, and other Bat-vehicles, mind you, gaining sentience.

Batwheels is heading for HBO Max & Chumptoon Network, perhaps as early as next year, aimed at preschoolers. Bear in mind that CN tried a line of pre-school toons a number of years back that didn't get the ratings they were hoping for, and were cancelled inside of a year or two.

There's no guarantee that, as of this writing, we'd see the Batman on this show, though I'd suspect it would be a given in the final product.

Well, it could've been worse. They could've revived Turbo Teen, a Knight Rider parody that Ruby-Spears produced for ABC in the mid-80's, but then, it's easier to sell toy Batmobiles if there's a show full of them.....

According to the show's synopsis, the titular vehicles will be appearing alongside the DC Heroes.

"They are a team of incredible crimefighters who have banded together to oppose evil, combat crime and clean up the streets of Gotham City. They are…okay, they’re NOT Batman and Robin. They’re the Batwheels – an awesome group of sentient super-powered crime-fighting vehicles defending Gotham City alongside Batman, Robin, Batgirl and a host of DC Super Heroes. Having just been created by the Batcomputer, our heroes are essentially kids with little to no life experience. Led by Bam (The Batmobile), the Batwheels – Bibi (The Batgirl Cycle), Red (The Redbird), Jett (The Batwing) and Buff (The Bat Truck) – must navigate the growing pains of being a newly formed super team as well as the growing pains that come with just being a kid."

CN's aforementioned kiddie block was called Tickle U. Fun fact: Warner Media was using Tickle U as a testing ground for a preschool entertainment channel they were planning to launch. Had Tickle U been successful, Warner would've reformatted Boomerang into a Tickle U channel.

Somehow, I don't like this show's chances, given CN's past history with Tickle U.

I referenced "Cars" in the initial text, along with the Tex Avery shorts that inspired that series.

Am I the only one who thinks Disney and Pixar should sue WB and DC?

Yeah, I'd say you're in the minority.
