It is said that Lewis was an influence on Lander's portrayal of Squiggy on Laverne & Shirley a few years later.

Was Jerry Lewis ever meant to voice himself in this show?
Anyway, Lander has said in interviews that the character of Squiggy was actually created and perfected even before this toon! According to him, he and Michael McKean developed the characters of Lenny & Squiggy together while in college a good decade before L&S came to fruition.
Lewis served as a creative consultant, but opted against doing voice work.
I think we've discussed Lander & McKean developing the Lenny & Squiggy characters in college. This series might've been Lander's 1st TV work, 5-6 years before Laverne & Shirley.
