With news that Hostess is going out of business, let's take a look back at two of the company's mascots.
In this 1980 commercial, Fruitpie the Magician (Allen Swift) needs the help of Twinkie the Kid (Mort Marshall) when he gets caught in an avalanche while trying to entertain a couple of kids. They just don't do ads like this anymore.

Don't worry - Twinkies and other Hostess products will be back in production soon enough. From what I've heard, Bimbo Baking Company (based in Mexico but owns several baking facilities in the US) is poised to buy it.
Nothing new since they already own Sandra Lee & Entenmanns.
I've replied to this over in Land of Whatever, but at least now I realize where this Bimbo comes from.
Next thing ya know, they'll try to buy the rights to the Frito Bandito from Frito-Lay, then give him a new name.....
