After being available only online and On Demand since their launch a couple of years ago, Cartoon Network is welcoming DC Super Hero Girls in an all new series coming later this year or next year.
Lauren Faust, whose resume includes Powerpuff Girls and My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, is on board as a show-runner. No firm premiere date has been set as of press time. To refresh everyone's memory, here's a compilation of season 1 installments, including the opener, which has previously been posted here.
Since then, more DC heroines, including Mera and one of the newest Green Lanterns, Jessica Cruz, have been added to the cast. As long as CN doesn't screw around with it, we're fine.
Long as I'm talking news here, there has to be a downside to things.
CN also has green-lit a new Thundercats series. That's the good news. The bad is that it's another lame comedy series in the vein of Teen Titans Go!, but the character designs look more like the work of the Steven Universe crew. Take that however you wish. Thundercats Roar is set for a 2019 debut. Following is a trailer:
Turns out the show will look more like TTG than the above trailer.
Will they never learn?

Lauren Faust's DCSHG series will follow a separate continuity from the web series, as well as sporting a different art style. Faust's show also features Zatanna in its' main cast, who has yet to show up on the web toon.
If I ever have a daughter in the future, I am so watching this with her.
You can watch DC Super Hero Girls right now on YouTube. Nothing's stopping you.
As for Thunercats Roar, I have no problem with the shows' producers going the comedic route for the franchise, but I am so tired of that SoCal drawing style. The WB Thundercats series wasn't great, but that show was at least nice to look at. I'm sick of every new show on Cartoon Network boasting characters that look like doodles on some art student's notebook with ping-pong ball eyes. Can we have a new animated series that doesn't look like Adventure Time or OK, K.O., Let's Be Heroes?
While the promo work on Thundercats Roar resembles designs for Steven Universe, it is still a WB production, catering to the corporate mentality that hasn't changed, that being comedy is more important than action.
I mentioned that Mera is joining the cast of DCSHG, both in this series and in the books, I forgot about Zatanna. Now, we know who's missing, don't we?
DC does have some channels on YouTube, and, as I mentioned before, some of the webisodes are also available, at last check anyway, On Demand. Check with your cable providers.
For the record, my problem with Teen Titans GO! isn't that it's a comedy; it's that it's not funny. Personally, I'm OK with a light-hearted, comedic take on a super hero comic book franchise (I enjoyed both Marvel's Super Hero Squad Show and Batman: The Brave and the Bold), but if you're going to do it, be funny.
Remember when [adult swim] Toonami aired reruns of the 2011 Thundercats reboot from 2012 to 2013? Because if I was Christina Miller, I would either A: Continue where the 2011 series left off or B: Get [adult swim] Toonami to reboot it.
Putting the 2011 Thundercats on Toonami would be nice---if they took Toonami away from [adult swim]. I get what you're saying, Steve. It worked for Samurai Jack, but because there are morons in power in higher rank than Ms. Miller (i.e. Rob Sorcher), we're getting more stupid "comedy".
I know.
I think we all do.
An [adult swim] version of Thundercats probably wouldn't even work since Thundercats was created to sell toys to young boys anyway.
And they'll have new toys for the current ThunderCats Roar (an abomination if there ever was one).
Toys haven't been announced yet.
Come to think of it, selling toys is not really an excuse in my opinion.
