Toon Rock: I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat (1950-2011)

"I Tawt I Taw A Puddy Tat", Tweety's catchphrase, was released as a novelty single, recorded by the inestimable Mel Blanc in 1950. Written by Billy May, Warren Foster, & Alan Livingston, it was resurrected with the following video in 2011, when it was released as a short featurette ahead of "Happy Feet 2".

Ageless June Foray (Granny) added some dialogue after Blanc's vocals were pulled from the archives. As we noted yesterday, the track is also on the "Looney Tunes: Rabbits Run" DVD, which was just released, and is on the "Happy Feet 2" DVD.

I tried to see this a few months ago by renting Happy Feet fron Netflix. Unfortunately, the rental copy did not have any special features on it, so I had to buy a copy just to see the short. I found a used copy for about two bucks, and the short was well worth the money. WB's evil plan to make money off me by forcing a purchase just to see the special features did not work.

If you've ever listened to Dr. Demento, you probably heard the song long before they made the CGI short. Though he sang in character, Mel Blanc was still an underrated vocalist.
