Saturday Morning's Greatest Hits: Sunny Sun Day (1972)

From the original Flintstone Comedy Show comes a Bedrock Rockers (Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm's band, don'tcha know) track, "Sunny Sun Day". Hanna-Barbera had tried to turn Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm into a prehistoric version of Archie Andrews and his girl-next-door honey, Betty Cooper, only in this case, it's Peb who's the redhead, and Bamm-Bamm the blond. Oh, well.......

Most of the work from the Bedrock Rockers was forgettable bubblegum pop, but that was the thing back in '72.

Seeing the video for the first time in eons reminds me of two things - how creepy the characters look just standing around smiling, and how Pebbles ages but Fred & Wilma remain the same!

The magic of cartoons---sort of. The funny thing is, unlike Josie and the Pussycats and the Archies, each of whom had cardboard 45's on the back of cereal boxes, I don't think the Bedrock Rockers were accorded the same courtesy. Hmmmmm.

Doubly strange when you consider that the Flintstones had their own cereal (in 2 flavors!) and the others didn't. If they were serious about promoting the Bedrock Rockers, records on the back of Pebbles cereal boxes would have been the place to start.

I think the Pebbles cereals were launched around the same time as Pebbles & Bamm-Bamm (1971), so you'd think Post would've done a promotion the following year. However, they didn't, and it's everyone's loss.
