Animated World of DC Comics: Teen Titans go on a "Space Beast Round-Up" (1967)

We've got another Teen Titans short from The Superman-Aquaman Hour of Adventure, "The Space Beast Round-Up". Scope it!

To think it took some 35 years before the Titans would return to TV, albeit based on the 1980's incarnation, but done in Americanized anime. If it wasn't for the anti-violence movement that started the following year, there was perhaps the chance these Titans would've been spun off into their own series, with Robin joining them by that point. Ah, what was and what might've been.

Rating: B.

A big loss indeed.

I've nbever read a teen Titan comic, but I loved this junior bunch of heroes!

Half the fun was hearing the boys call Donna Troy, "Wonder Doll". You only call someone that when you're really tight.

I'm assuming there was a Bat Embargo on Robin due to the live action series running at the time. It would have been nice to see this gang go on into the Superfriends era but we know they would have been watered down. At least we have "Young Justice".

As I've noted in the past, the live-action Batman was the reason the caped crusader was left out of the JLA shorts, along with Robin's exclusion from the Titans.

It's been written that there were plans for a Titans series in the 80's, again sans Robin, this time due to Super Friends, but the networks turned thumbs down. H-B would ultimately produce a promo ad for the anti-drug comics that featured the 1-shot hero, the Protector. Of course we know that from that 80's group, Cyborg would join the SF for its final season (Galactic Guardians).
