To kick off season 2 of Sigmund & The Sea Monsters, the producers decided to add a genie to the mix.
No, they didn't bring Weenie (Billie Hayes) over from Lidsville. Instead Sigmund (Billy Barty in the suit, voice by Walker Edmiston) finds a sea shell with a genie named Sheldon (Rip Taylor).......
Edmiston also took over as the voice of HR Pufnstuf when the dragon made a guest appearance at the end of the season.
Seasons 2 & 3 were comprised of 6 episodes each.
No rating. Just a public service.

Weenie did resurface years later on the short-lived segment of the Krofft Superstars Hour, "Lost Island", which I know you've already covered. Pufenstuf was also one of the Lost Island castaways.
Correct, but if they wanted to do a shared universe four years earlier, they could've saved money, and brought Weenie back. Rip Taylor chewed scenery, and added nothing.
Basically, Sheldon was to Sigmund what The Great Gazoo was to The Flintstones.
Only worse.
IIRC, the second season of Sigmunc and the Sea Monsters was interrupted by a studio fire that destroyed some of the sets - and at the time, Rip Taylor in his Sheldon costume got caught in the fire and had to escape the studio in full costume. Which I'm sure was probably the funniest thing to happen to him during his involvement with that program.
