Taped in May 1977, after the parent Hollywood Squares had recorded multiple "costume party" episodes for syndication at night, the Storybook Squares returned as a vacation treat for the kiddo's and their families.
We've previously screened this episode in an overview of Storybook a ways ago, so it's time to give it another shot. Our panel this time includes:
Anson Williams (Happy Days) as Simple Simon.
Rich Little as Noah.
Vincent Price as Captain Hook.
Arte Johnson as Beethoven.
Valerie Bertinelli (One Day at a Time) as Little Miss Muffet.
Milton Berle as a cigar chomping Mother Hubbard.
Paul Lynde as Attila The Hun.
Elke Sommer as Guenievere.
Karen Valentine (ex-Room 222) as Mona Lisa.
Rating: A-.

Too bad the John Davidson version never considered doing something like this, or Vincent could have dressed up like Vincent Van Ghoul...
Not sure if I mentioned this in other comments about this show, but I recall in an interview(it might have been the E! True Hollywood Story about Hollywood Squares), that Peter thought the concept of Storybook Squares worked better as an hour show, as after introducing all the celebs in costumes, there wasn't that much time to play the actual game.
I actually have to agree with him on that, as at least in the daytime, whatever show that aired before, or after Squares could have taken a break for a week, while they did an hour long Storybook/Hollywood Squares, as(IMO) it definitely works better as an hour long show.
I agree. With today's technology, they could've revived Storybook Squares years ago, but subbing actual cartoon characters for some of the celebrities in costumes. Like, how about Fred Flintstone & Barney Rubble sharing a square next to Joan Rivers as the Old Lady in a Shoe?
