MC Skat Kat returned with his own CD in 1991. That was the good news for cartoon fans. The bad? The lone single, "Skat Strut", bombed, failing to crack the top 40 despite regular airplay on MTV. The song samples Earth, Wind, & Fire's 1981 hit, "Let's Groove". In an unintended homage to a certain Golden Age series of animated shorts, Paula Abdul pops out of an inkwell to create some mischief, as she returns the favor to Skat after he'd debuted on her "Forever Your Girl" CD 2 years earlier.
But, if you thought that was it for Skat, it wasn't. Seth MacFarlane brought Skat in for a guest shot on American Dad 15 years ago.

I never got bored watching this music video. Hey, just because it bombed doesn’t mean it’s not enjoyable. I’d also like to mention there’s another MC Skat Kat music video I discovered in 2013 on Michael Patterson’s Vimeo account for the single, “Big Time.” I think you’d enjoy it because Disney animator Eric Goldberg did most of the original animation. That, and the mix is catchier in comparison to the album version.
By the way, if you’ve seen the Disney+ exclusive movie Chip ‘n’ Dale Rescue Rangers, you’d know Skat Kat and Paula appear in a wrap party near the start of the movie.
Haven't seen the movie. I wonder if they realized they were paying tribute to "Out of The Inkwell" with Paula in the video.
It’s a possibility.
I left out another time Skat Kat was recently referenced. In one episode of The Muppets’ Mayhem (also a Disney+ exclusive), Paula appears as herself, wearing a shirt with an image of Skat on it. She also says that it was Lips (the verbally incomprehensible trumpet player) who introduced her to the cat.
Oh, and in case you were wondering about the animated characters who make up the Stray Mob, they are Fatz, Taboo, Micetro (those three previously appeared in the Opposites Attract video), Leo, Katleen (who has her own unique animations in the Big Time video), and Silk.
Thanks for filling in the blanks.
