After being unceremoniously dismissed by Warner Bros. Discovery CEO/Head Cheapskate David Zaslav nearly 7 months ago, Batman: Caped Crusader will see life on the screen after all.
The Hollywood Reporter says that Amazon Prime appears to have won the bidding war for the series, a collaborative effort among Matt Reeves, JJ Abrams, & Bruce Timm, which would put the series on the fast track to launch either later this year or in 2024 for a 2 season commitment.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if this isn't the end of Amazon making moves to keep some of those discarded WB projects in play. Stay tooned.

This is probably a dumb question, but I'm going to ask it anyway: If Zaslav doesn't think made-for-streaming cartoons are profitable, then why not just ship them to Cartoon Network? CN could use the content, and wouldn't the ad revenue pay for them?
In any event, I find it ironic (not to mention slightly oily) that Zas and his pals are trying so hard to get their company out of debt yet they're OK with receiving huge bonuses which could be used to help get them back in the black.
If Zaslav kept Caped Crusader, and aired it on CN, that means he couldn't reap any profit from selling it outside WBD territory. It's all about profit margins with this jerk.
As it is, he's going to look like a fool when Caped Crusader makes oodles of cash for Amazon in streaming........
