10 days after we wrote about M & M's new spokescandy, Purple (Amber Ruffin), Mars Wrigley has bowed to pressure from right wing bullies like Tabloid Carlson at Fox No News, and is taking the mascots off the air, and sending them to "indefinite retirement".
Following is an official corporate statement:
Actress Maya Rudolph (ex-Saturday Night Live) has signed on to do commercials for the product going forward. Mars Wrigley has said the mascots will return. Personally, I think that "retirement" will be a short one after the backlash on social media.
Because of this, expect Carlson to be boasting and gloating on Fox No News tonight, although, personally, I'd rather see him get showered with M & M's falling from the ceiling, a la those ping pong balls on Captain Kangaroo back in the day. It's what he deserves for being an ignorant bully with no conscience.

I figured you’d notice the news. I was looking forward to more commercials featuring Purple. I’ve been wondering if they’d ever add the color to the other six in the packaging. Also, I don’t think social media had any objections when Ms. Brown was introduced during Super Bowl XLVI (46). As a certain adage goes, if you can’t say anything nice, don’t say anything at all.
Maya should be familiar to those who watched Big Hero 6, the Angry Birds movies, and Luca. I imagine she’ll be what Will Arnett is for Reese’s. What’s the worst that could happen? That’s just a rhetorical question.
With Mars Wrigley backing down, conservative scum win. That's wrong.
I don’t wish to disclose what party I follow, but it seems to me that conservatives get a bad rap just because a fraction of them do things that go against everything liberals stand for. I agree, though, Mars Wrigley should have stood up for themselves. It’s not like they did anything offensive.
On another note, Maya Rudolph was also in The LEGO Movie: The Second Part, The Willoughbys, and The Mitchells vs. the Machines. Anyone who watched these films should also be able to identify her in the upcoming M&Ms ads.
Guys, it's likely that all of this is just an elaborate publicity stunt, like how Planters "killed" Mr. Peanut at the Super Bowl a couple of years ago. I find it interesting that this announcement was made mere weeks before the Super Bowl, which M&M's has "big ad" planned for. I could be wrong, but I don't believe that any of this is genuine.
Maya Rudolph will make her M & M's debut during the Super Bowl, so there's that. She's basically the face of the new ad campaign.
This morning, I saw an M&Ms commercial with Maya Rudolph saying that the candies will all have her face on them from now on. Yeah, this is definitely a Super Bowl stunt.
I'm getting 'Baby Nut' vibes from all this.
Who wants to get a ginormous bowl of M & M's together to drop from the ceiling at Fox No News and dump it on Tucker Carlson's head?
I think what Goldstar is saying is true. Maya being the face of M&Ms is leading up to a Super Bowl stunt. Candies being called ‘Ma&Yas’? Image of Maya printed on the candies? Clam flavored? If the absurdity is any indication, the anthropomorphic candies will make their triumphant return this coming Sunday.
I just remembered two more movies where you’ll hear Maya: Shrek the Third (as Rapunzel) and Turbo (as Burn).
The fact that Super Bowl is this Sunday suggests there is an expiration date on this gimmick.
