It has been seven years since the last new episode of Johnny Test had aired. Come July 16, that all changes, as Johnny and his family return, this time finding a home on Netflix.
Billed as season 7, it's more of the same oddball comedy-adventure that previously aired on Kids' WB!/CW and Cartoon Network here in the US. Looks as though the entire cast is returning as well.
While Johnny Test has been a labor of love for cast & crew, fans have been divided over the years, finding Johnny to be a tad too annoying for their tastes. Seems even frenemy Eugene, aka Bling-Bling Boy, is more popular than Johnny is.
Here's the season 7 trailer:
Like, can your heart stand it, eh?

Who asked for a revival of this unholy trifecta from hell?
It's partially from Canada, eh? Like, there's more fans there.
Originally, the first three seasons aired on Kids WB on The WB and later The CW from September 17, 2005 to March 1, 2008. Seasons 4 through 6 aired on Cartoon Network from November 9, 2009 to December 25, 2014. I did not expect this show to get a revival. Out of all of the worst cartoons ever made, why bring this one back? The only reason why this show lasted so long is probably because so many kids liked it. How could Canada send their soul to Lucifer to bring this show back?
I think you've already answered your own question, Steven.
Personally, I didn't find Johnny Test to be very good, but I feel like there's a germ of a good idea buried in there somewhere. Everything about JT is designed to appeal to 10-year-old boys. This show keeps coming back, so someone must be watching it. As previously stated, *we* don't like JT, but the kids watching at home apparently do. This isn't made for us, and just because something exists, that doesn't mean that we have to watch it.
As adults, it's hard for us to judge the merits of kids' shows; often what children view as the height of entertainment is guaranteed to drive any and all adults from the room within minutes. Johnny Test is like another very divisive kids' cartoon, Teen Titans GO!: it's everything its' detractors say it is, yet it's popular with the kiddos, so like crabgrass, it keeps coming back.
While the show's basic schtick hasn't appeared to have changed, I will say the animation looks slightly better and more fluid this time around, plus I sat through that trailer and haven't heard any whip cracks...yet.
No wonder this show was a cash cow.
It's aimed at the same target audience as TTG!, and hence the long run.
