One reason why I believe The Buford Files never took off is because Buford was yet another one of H-B's Scooby Doo knockoffs, and by the late 1970s, the airwaves were well populated with them; there was one on every major TV network.
But, yeah, I do remember Digger the Dog. I've never owned one myself, but a cousin of mine did.

But, yeah, I do remember Digger the Dog. I've never owned one myself, but a cousin of mine did.
And yet the networks kept asking for Scooby clones.....!
As for Digger, I think he was off the market by the 80's.
One could also draw comparisons between Digger and Woofer from CBS' Clue Club; both were bloodhounds who wore Sherlock Holmes hats.
One celeb who remembers Digger was comedienne Rosie O'Donnell, who has referenced the toy in her stand-up routine.
Well, it looks like her type.
