From High Desert Soul and The Midnight Special comes an acoustic performance of Seals & Crofts' "Summer Breeze". This also appears on my other blog, The Land of Whatever:
Speaking of The Midnight Special, Time-Life just announced that they are releasing 3 sets of DVDs of selected episodes. They're expensive, but the 3 sets are each at different price points, with correspondingly fewer shows. Maybe after a year or two these sets will show up at Amazon at a reduced price, like their other sets have (albeit some without the extras).
I saw the story over on TVShowsOnDVD. They have the list prices for all 3 versions (budget, standard, and deluxe), but Time-Life sometimes runs specials on their DVD sets, especially just before they lose the exclusive license and it goes to more mainstream outlets like Amazon (at least it seemed that way for the few items of theirs that I tracked). But if they did buy the company, maybe they won't be distributing it widely? I'm on the fence with this, I certainly won't be buying the super-deluxe set, and right now I'm leaning toward not buying at all. I'm just not that much of a music fan.
I was able to score one Dean Martin Roast tape for a cheaper price when it became available through retail outlets such as CVS Pharmacy. Maybe someday we can expect the same of Midnight Special.
Sometimes you can get lucky on Amazon with resellers, or even Amazon itself. I got 2 Time-Life series that way: "Get Smart" for $69 as an Amazon Gold Box deal, and "The Six Million Dollar Man" used but in perfect condition for much less than the Time-Life price (don't remember how much I paid, just that it was a good deal). You can also check with reputable used disc sites and get some very good deals.

Hmmm, I'd think Time-Life/StarVista has bought out Guthy-Renker. Consider that they also took over putting out Dean Martin videos.
Keep me posted.

Oh, I'll keep my eyes open. I always do....
This has always been one of my most favorite summertime songs. I have the record.
Thanks for writing in, and welcome.
