Summertainment: Woody Woodpecker in The Beach Nut (1944)

Summer's almost over. That said, why not one more trip to the beach? This time, Woody Woodpecker makes a day at the beach difficult for one Wally Walrus in "The Beach Nut". Co-author Ben "Bugs" Hardaway is also the voice of Woody in this one.

Directed by James "Shamus" Culhane.

Woody's been locked in the Universal vault ever since his series for Fox ended. Let's bring him back to television, ok?

Rating: A-.

Universal recently renamed and revamped the Sprout channel into Universal Kids, adding some programming for the older kiddos in addition to the preschool aimed Sprout shows. Maybe they could give Woody a new show to air there, or at least bring his shorts back to television. Seems weird that Universal has an entire channel to itself and isn't airing more of its' properties on it.

Oh, that's right. They just did the rebrand. I think that took effect, what, last week?

Anyway, yeah, they could dust off Woody and his library of shorts, plus Andy Panda, Chilly Willy, the Beary Family, and later shows like Savage Dragon for the teenagers. But will they? Naaaaaaaaah.
