Coming Attractions: Netflix adds a 2nd He-Man series

While Masters of The Universe: Revelation is streaming now on Netflix, and while you're waiting for the 2nd half of Kevin Smith's epic adventure to drop later this year, the streaming service is adding more He-Man for your buck.

Coming September 16 is a reboot of the original He-Man & The Masters of The Universe, this time as a CGI animated series that hews toward Mike Young's 2002 series in establishing Skeletor's alter ego as Keldor, who, it turns out, is Prince Adam's uncle. Like, who knew?

The voice cast will be different, packed with veteran voice actors and not the star studded lineup of Revelation. As with the 2002 Masters series, Adam (Yuri Lowenthal) gains his powers as a teenager. As you can see, the Sword of Power is a bigger, phatter version than the original. Go figure.

The creative personnel for the show includes writers associated with other genre shows such as Arrow.

I think I'll wait for the DVD.

Netflix should give Fat Albert a reboot one day.

If they can get the rights, sure. They can always get Kenan Thompson, who played the title role in the 2004 movie.

@Steven Dolce: There'd be two problems with that:

1. Netflix doesn't own Fat Albert. Like hobbyfan already said, they'd have to acquire the rights to the series first.

2. Bill Cosby has since become a pariah due to some dirty laundry that's come to the surface. The only way that a new Fat Albert show conceivably could work would be to remove any and all traces of The Cos from said series. Nobody wants to watch a show created and hosted by a serial rapist.

@Goldstar Dreamworks is the current rights holder to the show. Also, wasn't Fat Albert created before Bill Cosby became a serial rapist?

Yeah, but that doesn't change the fact that he's toxic now. Stations won't even air reruns of Cosby's old shows now, forget about a new show based on of his creations.

Guys, I think we're burying the lead here. Let's bring this to the new He-Man series:

Based on that trailer, this new He-Man looks very toyetic. The idea of every major protagonist being a "master" of something and each of them having their own transformation means more toys and accessories that can be sold. There's more of a team dynamic feel to this one. Also, did anyone else notice that Orko is a robot this time around.

Missed that. Is that an upgrade or downgrade for Orko?
