Saturday Morning's Forgotten Heroes: Cybersix (1999)

Cybersix had its origins in a comic book published in Argentina in 1991. Eight years later, Animators in Canada & Japan brought the series to life in an animated adventure series that aired on Teletoon in Canada and Fox in the US. Unfortunately, conflicts between the studios resulted in the series being cancelled after one season.

TMS Entertainment, one of the studios involved, has a YouTube channel, from whence we get the series opener, "The Mysterious Shadow":

Rating: B.

This doesn't look like a Fox Kids show, this looks more like an adult cartoon than a kids cartoon.

Ah, but it did air on Fox Kids, rotated in and out of the lineup in an effort to divert ratings away from Pokemon, as I recall.

I don't remember seeing this but the first episode definitely got my attention! It DOES look very much like something that would have aired on Toonami.

Definitely not in the same class as Pokemon or anything running on Fox Kids at the time.

Pokemon was on Kids WB, not Fox Kids. FK had Digimon instead. Also, when this show started airing on FK in 2000, it had to be censored to make it more kid appropriate.

I think Magicdog knew Pokemon was on Kids' WB!, Steven. Cybersix was not the only show edited by Fox, as I recall. I believe Escaflowne was edited for the same reason.
