Dairy Queen is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year, but there aren't that many locations left in the 518.
But, did you know that the chain actually did have an animated "mascot"?
The animated Dairy Queen debuted in 1961. Here she is in this ad with golden age style animation:

Dairy Queen these days must be more of a western U.S. chain, as in the Seattle area we have several(including one that's about a 5 minute drive from my house, and another that's about a 10 minute drive from where I live).
As I've said over in the Land of Whatever, the last I knew, there was an Orange Julius in an Albany mall, and I think DQ is available on the east coast.
