Toon Legends: Scooby-Doo meets the Three Stooges (1972)

The series premiere of The New Scooby-Doo Movies sent the Mystery Inc. team to a "Ghastly Ghost Town" for an encounter with everyone's favorite nyukleheads, The Three Stooges, who were in their first animated adventure in 7 years, albeit with other actors in place of the Stooges themselves. Pat Harrington, Jr., making his Hanna-Barbera debut, voiced Moe, while H-B stalwart Daws Butler doubled as both Larry and Curly Joe. Frank Welker (Fred) would later voice a bionic version of Curly Howard in The Robonic Stooges after using his Curly mimic for Jabberjaw.

The Stooges' appearances marked the only time Harrington, to this writer's knowledge, actually worked for H-B, and had also marked the first time that Butler had done an episode of Scooby-Doo. It would be five years before he'd have that opportunity again (Laff-a-Lympics).

Rating: B-.
