Sunday Funnies: The Incredible Hulk vs. Sasquatch (1996)

Marvel Comics had the bright idea of creating a heroic version of Sasquatch, or, as he/it's more commonly known, Bigfoot, back in the 70's, as a member of the Canadian mutant super-team, Alpha Flight.

In 1996, the orange-furred Sasquatch (Clancy Brown), the alter ego of scientist Walter Langkowski (Peter Strauss), gets into a pitched battle with The Incredible Hulk (Lou Ferrigno) in the episode, "Man to Man, Beast to Beast". It all begins when Bruce Banner (Neal McDonough, currently on Arrow) travels to the Great White North to pay a call on his pal Langkowski, hoping that Langkowski can find a cure. He says he has, but at a terrible price.

Over the course of the last several years, Marvel, perhaps unsurprisingly, has let their current crop of writers screw around with Sasquatch. He's done the dead-then-alive-again thing, among other things. He was created, originally, to be Canada's more intelligent answer to the Hulk, but was rebooted for television to be just as savage, which really was wrong. When I was first introduced to Sasquatch in the pages of Uncanny X-Men, Langkowski could control his changes. Seems to me that someone at Marvel couldn't stand the prosperity of having a man-monster that could embarrass the jade giant in the brain department......
