From Comics to Toons: Alley Oop (1978)

Vincent T. Hamlin's long-running newspaper strip, Alley Oop, made its way to television in 1978. That's the good news. The bad news is that it was part of Filmation's Fabulous Funnies anthology series for NBC. Buried at 12 noon (ET), Funnies was cancelled after 1 season, and no one has tried to adapt Alley since, even though the strip continues to this day.

XOtericate uploaded the episode, "King Klunk", to YouTube:

Alley's sidekick, Foozy, also served as the "host" of Funnies, setting the stage for the entire show. As you can see, he spoke entirely in rhyme, perhaps making him the poet laureate of the Stone Age.......

Rating: B.
